Following
the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation’s decision to privatise World Radio
Switzerland, Off-Piste Radio Network announces its intention to bid for
the station.
Off-Piste Radio Network, founded in January 2011, is a Swiss-based limited company, dedicated to providing professional multimedia and broadcast content with a public-service ethos. We work closely with private and institutional Swiss partners and have a built up an extensive network of political and business contacts throughout the country.
Conor Lennon, a former presenter and journalist at the BBC and World Radio Switzerland, is the founder of Off-Piste Radio Network. He explains why he wants to return to the company:
“I believe WRS plays a very important role in integrating expatriates and anglo-professionals in Switzerland. It is also an excellent way to promote Switzerland both internally and abroad.
I feel passionately that this radio station should continue to provide public-service oriented, intelligent and entertaining content.
Our proposal includes a marked increase in local content for the main metropolitan areas where English speakers and anglo-professionals live and work: Geneva, Zürich, Bern and Basel. We plan to integrate many of the talented journalists and technicians from WRS into our new structure”.
Off-Piste Radio Network is already in touch with the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation, the Swiss Federal Office of Communication (OFCOM) and several private Swiss media organisations concerning its plans for the future of World Radio Switzerland.
